Before applying wart peel, make sure that the area is clean and dry. Apply a very thin layer of the medication directly to the wart. If you are using an ointment or a cream, we will provide plastic applicators to aid in the process. 

It is recommended to apply the medication only to the wart as much as possible while avoiding the healthy tissue surrounding it. If your dermatologist has instructed you to cover the area, you can use a band-aid or duct tape.

Once you finish applying the wart peel, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. If you used a band-aid or duct tape to cover the affected area, remove it in the morning and wash the area before continuing with your treatment.

Potential Changes and Side Effects

Over time, you may begin to notice the affected area beginning to swell and turn white or black. Don’t be alarmed as this just means the wart cells are dying off. At this point, your dermatologist may instruct you to use a washcloth or a pumice stone to gently slough off these dead skin cells. 

If the area that you applied the wart peel to becomes red, sensitive, or tender, or if open wounds arise, stop the treatment for a few days. This gives some time for the skin to heal before you continue with the treatment. 

The most common side effects of wart peel are skin swelling and peeling at the application site. If the medication you were prescribed is applied to the healthy skin surrounding the wart, it can become red and irritated. 

This wart peel can only be applied on skin. Any sort of contact with the mouth, nose, or groin area can lead to irritation and a rash. It is also important to note that you do not use wart peel on broken skin as it can further irritate it. This is why it is important that you let those areas heal before continuing the treatment.
